Yes, I realize that it's November and this is my first post. Yes, I know that I've been here since the end of August. To be fair, it's been a crazy couple of months! Before we get to all of that, though, I think it's best to start with an introduction...
I'm Mia, I'm 18 years old and I'm from Massachusetts, USA. I'm currently spending a year studying at the American University of Paris as a "Paris Scholar" through George Washington University. This means that I will live and study in Paris for a year, and then hop back to D.C. to finish out the rest of my college years. I don't speak a word of French, but I'm studying it here so... it's a start.
I started this blog (well, I am starting it) to keep a sort of diary of my time in Paris. I'm starting two months late which sort of throws a wrench in the year-long plan... c'est la vie, I suppose! I thought this would be a great way to remember everything that happens, and open it up to friends and family. I mean, a lot happens in a year - much more than what can be covered in small talk or quick catch-ups.
I live in a lovely apartment in the 16th arrondissement with 4 other girls who are all in partner programs like myself. AUP's buildings are located in the 7th arrondissement (hello, Eiffel Tower!), so walking to school takes about 30 minutes. I often will take the bus part of the way and walk for about another 10 minutes. I live a block away from a bus stop and a metro stop, so transportation is really convenient for me.
I'm also fortunate enough to live across the street from a small market that sells produce, essentials, and cleaning supplies. I live down the street from Passy, a posh shopping area of Paris, but sometimes it's nice to just run across the street and pick up what I need. Anyway, I'll get to all of this eventually. For now, I just wanted to introduce myself and my blog. I've got to start somewhere, right?
